London Sinfonietta – Composed by Steve Reich and Thomas Ades
The London Sinfonietta will play works by two leading international composers, Thomas Ades and Steve Reich on 28 April 2008.
Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians is a seminal work of musical minimalism composed during 1974-1976. It was written for a cello, violin, two clarinets, four pianos, three marimbas, two xylophones, a metallophone, maracas, and four women’s voices.
Thomas Ades’ In Seven Days, Piano Concerto with Moving Image is a collaboration with his partner, Israeli video artist Tal Rosner (recent creator of E4 Skins title credits), especially commissioned by the Southbank Centre. In this new work, Tal Rosner will bring a kaleidoscope of architectural images created from two iconic buildings - the newly completed Walt Disney Hall in Los Angeles and the Royal Festival Hall during its renovation. |
