Willesden Cemetery
After repeated sell-out seasons, this Journey is back. Led by renowned lecturer and chronicler of British Jewry, Elkan Levy, the tour will take you around Willesden Cemetery, arguably the most important Jewish burial ground in the UK. Opened in 1873, it is the final resting place for Chief Rabbis, and for many significant communal leaders of the 19th and 20th centuries. It also reflects the wide diversity of Jewish Life.
Stamford Hill – Behind the Mystery
Join Clive Lawton for a behind-the-scenes tour of this fascinating changing part of Jewish London. Get an insight into the world of London’s Chassidic community and its institutions, and find out why the area is also becoming a magnet for young Jewish families.
From Radicals to Rothschilds
Blue Badge Guide Rachel Kolsky takes you from the surprisingly quiet Stepney Green to Whitechapel, evoking the memories of Jewish life, learning and labour. The treat of this tour is that the closed cemeteries of Alderney Road and Brady Street are being opened up specially for us, providing an opportunity to see London’s oldest Ashkenazi cemetery and also the burial place of Nathan Mayer Rothschild, founder of the eponymous banking house.
