ANNIE HALL
(1977, US, dir. Woody Allen, 93 mins)
Winner of four Academy Awards and a place in most
people’s hearts as their favourite Woody Allen film, we
are delighted to offer a chance to see the classic comedy on
the big screen. Allen’s turning-point film from the purely
zany comedies of earlier years, Annie Hall is a homage
to New York, psychoanalysis and the perils of love.
“Life - full of loneliness, and misery, and
suffering, and unhappiness, and it’s all over much too
quickly.” Woody Allen.

WALTZ WITH BASHIR
(Dir: Ari Folman, 2008, 90 mins, Hebrew with English
subtitles)
Nominated for an Oscar, winner of a Golden Globe
and six Israeli Academy Awards, we are delighted to give you
another chance to see one of the most powerful war films in recent
years.
One night at a bar, an old friend tells director
Ari Folman about a recurring nightmare in which he is chased
by 26 vicious dogs. The two men conclude that there’s a
connection to their Israeli Army mission in the first Lebanon
War of the early eighties. Ari is surprised that he can no longer
remember a thing about that period of his life.
This haunting restoration work of traumatic memories
is conveyed in the most creative manner through the use of animation
to form a poignant piece of history.
Now in their forties, these men reveal and sometimes discover
repressed memories, shedding light on one of Israel’s most
controversial wars and on the horrors of the Sabra and Shatila
massacre.
