ARAB LABOUR
(Avoda Aravit)*
JCC: Movie Sunday Special – with the UK Jewish Film Festival – A Sunday marathon screening
Following a sell-out screening at November’s UK Jewish Film Festival, join the JCC and the UK Jewish Film Festival for a unique opportunity to watch every episode of Sayed Kashua’s hilarious award-winning TV series (awarded best TV drama at The Jerusalem International Film Festival). Arab Labour deals with the status of Arabs in Israeli society, the controversy surrounding issues of identity and the sensitivities of both Jewish and Arab populations.
Amjad is a 35-year-old Arab journalist, married to Bushara and father to Maya. In his attempt to make it to the top, Amjad is willing to lie, flatter and conceal all of his Arab traits. The series explores the daily conflicts he faces between the desire to integrate and his own values and traditions.
The Sunday marathon is an opportunity to come and see three, six or all ten episodes of the series.
