We’re excited to be part of this year’s Jewish Book Week with the following events...
Sex, Lies and Regal Japes
The story of Esther, the sex-crazed king and his evil counsellor
A Purim Spiel with a contemporary twist, bringing a little bit of Persia to Bloomsbury, with a backbeat of Iranian rhythms – and all hosted by our favourite modern-day Sheherezade, David Schneider.
Unmasking the Book of Esther, we’ll be revealing the story behind the story of Purim, hatching all-new conspiracy theories and in the spirit of the festival, blurring boundaries between good and evil, sacred and profane. Bringing the world of inversions, masks and hidden meanings to life will be our all-star cast:
David Aaronovitch, Anita Diamant, Irving Finkel, Assaf Gavron, Shappi Khorsandi, Udi Sharabani, Kathy Lette and Simon Schama.

True Tales?
For the first time, Jewish Book Week will be commissioning new work – storytelling with a common theme. We have entitled the evening ‘True Tales?’ and have selected some of our favourite writers to present works of either truth or fiction.
The tales are themed ‘Imprints of Home and Exile’, and the writers will be offering suggestions of what remains when we leave home; which aspects of home leave us, and which do we carry with us?
Spinning homespun yarns will be comedy writer Jon Canter, Jewish pirate specialist Ed Kritzler, Indian novelist Esther David, Rachel Holmes and Irma Kurtz.
In association with JCORE.
