Mitzvah Day

Mitzvah Day

Mitzvah Day takes place once a year, encouraging members of the Jewish community to spend the day volunteering. Mitzvah Day’s mission is to reduce hardship and poverty, to help our environment and to bring a little joy all through volunteering – not by fundraising. As a founding partner, the JCC runs a flagship event each year, working with local partners. Mitzvah Day 2010 will take place on Sunday November 21st. Watch this space or go to www.mitzvahday.org.uk for more information.

Mitzvah Day Reunited

Mitzvah Day Reunited is a brand new project for young adults who don’t want to do Mitzvah Day through a synagogue or other group. Mitzvah Day Reunited will work with charities to find simple projects that appeal to Young Professionals. In conjunction with the JCC for London, the aim is to bring together old (or existing) groups of friends to participate in great projects.  The idea is simple- ten people, one day, no set up, no commitment and no need to be a member of an organisation. It is also available to those who may want to come alone or in smaller groups and we will put your team together for you – again simple, fun and really worth while. To get involved just follow a few simple steps:

Get a group of friends together (could be from university, school, youth movement etc). Contact the JCC to tell them you would like to take part . The JCC will find a project that appeals to you . Turn up on the day and enjoy yourself!
